Excerpt from my new book How to Be a Success Champion
You must do something that’s much bigger than yourself.
You’re gonna have to find yourself with your back against the wall. I know that sounds crazy. But it’s when your back is against the wall that things start happening.
They say necessity is the mother of all invention. We’ve heard that phrase a lot of times. And I can say that’s an absolute fact for my life.
I had to figure out a model that worked for me.
I had to figure out how to turn what I was doing into a business. I had no choice. My choices were to fix my current business and do something with it or go to work back in corporate America with my tail tucked between my legs, listening to everybody saying “Holy shit, Donnie failed.” It took me hitting rock bottom to start climbing.
I didn’t lose it all. It was the fear of losing it all that caught me.
If you genuinely want to get out of your own way and want to find out what you’re made of…if you genuinely want to discover who the Hell you are then go shock your system.
Go do that thing that’s so big it scares the Hell out of you. Go stand on a stage and sing or speak. Maybe start a company like I did. Go write that book that you have in you. Perhaps it’s reading a poem in front of the room. Maybe it’s walking across the floor and asking that girl or guy out. Or walking away from a marriage you’ve been trying to get away from for a long time.
Maybe it’s opening up that checking account or checkbook and really looking at your numbers to see what’s going on.
But you have to stop hiding from life and start going for it.
Because when you go big and loud is when you start finding you.
That’s what’s helping me continue to progress and move forward; 100% going all in with no backup plans. There’s no backing out; it’s all or nothing, period, end of story. You must go all in on you to figure it out.
Because you’ve walked through your entire life living in your body, living in your skin, and living in your own thoughts and you’ve put up so many walls to insulate you from any sort of tragedy or shield you from any kind of hurt feelings or any sort of fears that you’ve covered all those up.
The only way I know how to tell you how to break those all up is to smash your head straight into your freaking fears.
Because when you do you will finally find you.
